The McBurnetts entire extended family rent a beach house every summer for a big family vacation!
This year, they found the best beach house in Gulf Shores, Alabama. It was big enough to hold all 38 family members including 13 great-grandbabies. The kitchen had three refrigerators and four extra long dining tables to seat everyone.
First, we video playtime on the beach. All the grandbabies had little water guns and they had a blast soaking the uncles unexpectedly. The filled dump trucks with sand and boogie boarded in the water. Their favorite thing to do altogether is play “Simon Says” and group dance party with Uncle Seth.
Family Beach Photos
After beach time is over, they all go inside to clean up for photos. As soon as any family group is ready, they head down to the beach for photos. One by one, we get each family unit photographed. Then, we gather everyone together for a few shots of the entire family. My favorite picture is always of Mawmaw and Pawpaw with all their great-grandbabies.
Large Group Photos
Large group photography can be challenging with so many people and so many different combinations to capture. We have to start shooting a little earlier than prime sunset light in order to get to everyone.
Our main focus is to get a portrait of each of the following:
2. Immediate family unit
3. Each set of grandparents with all children and grandchildren
4. Each set of grandparents with all grandchildren
5. Great-grandparents with all great-grandchildren
Once we are sure we have everything, we get any additional groups or shots that we can. For example, mother and daughter photos and sibling photos. I do try my best to get shots of whatever I can while waiting for groups to set up such as individual shots or candids.
Large Group Photography and Family Films
It’s rare when you are able to take a vacation with your entire extended family so it’s important to document it! The family film allows everyone to show off their personalities. You capture real smiles and giggles and remember what everyone loved to do together. The photos give you something to hang on your wall or save as your computer background. Both keep your memories alive and give you something to look back on for years to come.
Follow Their Journey
I’ve had the honor of capturing this fun family for four years in a row! I love watching all the little ones grow up. Check out their other family films to see how much has changed over the years.
This is also the family that started Shane’s Rib Shack in McDonough, Georgia. It has quickly spread all over Georgia and some other places around the southeastern Unites States. Be sure to pop in and give it a try if you ever spot one!
